OpenCL is a standard for programming heterogeneous systems composed of CPUs, GPUs, and other processors. It provides a framework to define the platform in terms of a host (such as a CPU) and one or more compute devices (such as a GPU), along with a C-based programming language for writing code for these compute devices. With OpenCL, developers can write task-based and data-parallel programs that leverage the different types of processors available in a single system.
